What does it feel like to be organized?

Over the years, I've been asked this question by friends, family, and clients.

For me, it feels balanced. I can live my life the way I want to. It means I am in control of my home, schedule, and life. I get to relax in my home. I look forward to being home because it is peaceful. I love when people stop by. I have time to do things I want to do.

It doesn't mean that my house is always perfectly put together. After all, I have kids and a husband, and we live in our home. It does mean that when its time to clean up, everything has a place, and cleanup doesn't take forever. It means that it's okay when life gets crazy because we have systems in place to help us catch up easily. It doesn't mean that life is always sunshine and rainbows, but we always have a sense of peace.

I've researched what other people have said and compiled a list of what it feels like for them to be organized. People have said:

• I am less stressed

• I get better sleep

• My productivity increased

• My relationships are better than ever

• I get more time back for the things that matter

• I can think straight, even when my plate is full

• I'm more confident than ever

• I'm a nicer person

• My kids are happier and more confident

• I'm ready for unxpected visitors

• It's like a weight has being lifted

• Organizing is therapeutic and cathartic

What I take away from this list is that every feeling is a positive effect of being organized. Who doesn't want better sleep and less stress?

Being organized is going to be different for everyone. What will be the same, is the benefits and feeling you get when you are organized.
